The Tahune Airwalk is a great day trip for the Family. Belinda and I have done this a few times and taken family there also. We have done the walk, then have finished it off with lunch at Willie Smiths Apple shed.
We recommend that you book your tickets at the Airwalk as well as book your table at Willie Smiths.
We would advise that it is a whole day trip.
So have breakfast first at Jam Packed Cafe (book here) and order your Picnic Hamper as you may stop and enjoy the many scenic spots on the way down.
Take the ocean road and see a whole heap more of Tassie. For those that have limited time, we suggest you take the direct route to Huonville.
The famous Tahune AirWalk is an elevated walkway 30 metres above the forest floor, with the final cantilever section sitting at a height of 50 meters above the Huon River, with spectacular views to the confluence of the Huon and Picton and beyond to the peaks of the World Heritage Area.
To reach the start of the AirWalk you’ll gradually ascend 104 steps, with places to sit and rest. We also offer disabled access – please enquire at the Tahune Adventures ticket office.
Basic fitness is required to complete the 619-metre length of the AirWalk. The full return journey takes about 50 minutes – more if you stop for photographs, check out the birdlife, or pause to enjoy the clean, fresh scents of the forest.
