Russell Falls is a great day trip, approx 1 hour drive from Hobart. The Russell Falls, are a tiered–cascade waterfall on the Russell Falls Creek, located in the Central Highlands region of Tasmania, Australia .
We have done this day trip several times now and thoroughly enjoy this magnificent local wilderness.
We suggest, first of all have breakfast at Jam Packed cafe (Book) and you can even order your picnic hamper from the Jam Packed Website, where we will have it ready for your trip the next day. Or if you miss the cut off, simply arrive at Jam Packed and we will make it for you whilst you wait.
Russell falls is an easy walk for all levels of fitness - approx 20 mins return walk to the falls. If you would like to do the tall trees walk there are steps that are not wheelchair friendly
The Forrest is a beautiful space to unwind from your busy life and immerse your self in this breathtaking world heritage wilderness area.
We would advice that you buy an annual pass to the national parks, if you feel like visiting quite a few on your trip, as the costs for a casual visit are high.
There is a cafe at the visitors center but outside of that there are very few food options, so book your picnic hamper now.
