Sometimes here in Hobart, esp in the winter months, it’s cold, wet and the outdoors might not be so appealing!
We’ve got your covered. After breakfast/brunch at Jam Packed or lunch depending on your morning schedule, then make your way up to North Hobart State Cinema’s on 375 Elizabeth Street.
The State Cinema is a Hobart icon that has entertained generations of Tasmanians for over 100 years!
There is 11 screens, plus a Rooftop Cinema, and there is always a wide range of local and international films on offer. Jump on their website for the day’s offerings, where you can also purchase your ticket if you choose. Online purchases do incur a booking fee. https://statecinema.com.au/ Adults $20.50 Children and Seniors $16.50 Concession $18.50 There is very few ads, meaning the movie starts only a few minutes after the scheduled start time, unlike some cinemas where there is often at times over 15 minutes of ads, features etc but the actual movies starts
There is a large Café Bar serving light meals and you can take your coffee or glass of local wine in to the screening. We opted for a choc top of course!
Allow yourself some time to walk through the beautiful Bookstore, with a hand-picked selection of stationery, books and gifts.
Operating 7 days a week, all year round (except Christmas Day) the State Cinema and Café is open from 9.30 am daily.
